Gifting Wacky Applesauce Granola

Do you enjoy getting homemade, edible gifts?

I think it’s one of my favorite things to give and receive. I am always on the search for simple, healthy treats that the kids and I can enjoy making together. Granola is one of my favorite treats! I love it sprinkled on yogurt with berries or just eaten by itself while out hiking or tucked into my son’s lunchbox.  I feel like it can be as simple and healthy as you want and the ingredients can be adapted to fit your tastebuds and also coorespond to ingredients you have on hand. I love easily adaptable recipes, as it saves me one less trip to the store and is easy on my pocketbook 🙂

I adapted the original Wacky Apple granola recipe to fit into what I had on hand at home already. Here is the recipe I used: I adapted it by using 1 cup of pecans because I didn’t have almonds. I also used Golden Applesauce because we had eaten our jar of Cinnamon Applesauce the day before for lunch. Some other add-in’s you could include are chia/flax/hemp seeds, dried fruit, coconut flakes, and chocolate chips.

  • Wacky Apple Applesauce Granola

    – 2 cups organic rolled oats
    – 1/2 cup almonds
    – 1/2 cup pecans
    – 1 tsp cinnamon
    – 1/4 tsp ground allspice
    – a pinch of salt
    – 1 TBSP Coconut oil
    – 1/2 cup Cinnamon Wacky Apple Applesauce
    – 1/4 cup local honey
    – 1 tsp vanilla

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Spread on a coconut oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Makes a delicious breakfast and an easy gift. (Think hostess & teacher gifts). A perfect warm treat for the family! *this recipe fills two pint sized Ball mason jars. Double or triple the recipe to make more gifts*Granola gift

This recipe is oh so easy to prepare and it makes a great gift for family, friends, co-workers, teachers and neighbors. To make it an easy gift, I just bought some Ball mason jars to pack it in. My friend made gift tags by cutting out brown sturdy paper, stamping on it and using a hole punch to thread some string through. We used a light “rope” type string and tied it onto the jar. That’s it! You have a delicious, healthy and thoughtful gift in less then one hour. Trust me…your friends and family will beg you to make this every year 🙂
