Baked Pork Chops and Apples

Baked Pork Chops and Apples

My opinion and taste buds say that apples and pork just go great together. This is a great way to enjoy the apple season without making more breads and pies (as much as I love apple desserts :)).

I hope you enjoy this seasonal apple dinner!

Pork and apples dinner

Ingredients:

4 pork chops

1 tablespoon of butter

Salt and pepper

4 apples (any variety), cored, peel left on and sliced in thin wedges. I used a combination of galas, red delicious and golden

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons of packed brown sugar

1/4 cup Wacky Apple apple juice

 Preparation:

Heat the oven to 350 degrees.

Arrange the apples in a buttered 13 x 9 baking dish and sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.

Melt the butter in a medium skillet over medium heat. Sprinkle the pork chops with salt and pepper and brown the meat on both sides in the skillet. Transfer the pork chops to the baking dish arrange over the top of the apples.

Add the apple juice in the hot pan; swirl and scrape up any brown bits. Pour over the pork chops and apples in the baking dish.

Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 35-45 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 145 degrees when inserted into the thickest part of the pork chop.
