CASA Ray of Hope 2015 Annual Fundraiser
Wacky Apple got to be a part of an amazing fundraising event for a truly inspiring and remarkable cause. We attended and sponsored an event by donating our Wacky Apple snacks for CASA of the 7th Judicial District.
What is CASA exactly? CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates. This organization serves abused and neglected children who have been removed from their homes and find themselves in the courts and child welfare systems through no fault of their own. CASA volunteers undergo extensive training under the supervision the the presiding judge and participate as independent child advocates. The volunteers formalize observations and recommendations in written court reports to assist in the complex and difficult decision making process that directly affects the child. CASA is a highly respected agency and judges express a great need for more CASA volunteers for their cases. CASA’s mission is to help break the cycle of child abuse and neglect, and to advocate for safe, permanent, nurturing homes for children. Their vision is to provide a volunteer for every abused and neglected child.
The event was kept very simple. An elaborate dinner for the attendees was swapped out for a cost effective meal of baskets filled with fresh, local sandwiches and other delicious home grown goodies, like Wacky Apple products and Big B’s juice. Most of the food for dinner was donated by local Western Colorado farmers, producers and growers. By doing this, they saved enough money to employ two more advocates this year! What a great way to take one step towards their vision of helping more children.
The event was spectacular and we felt so honored to work with and sponsor this amazing organization and support all of the wonderful things they are doing for children. Thank you CASA for inspiring us all with your worthy and honorable cause.
