Wacky Apple Crisp

WA-crisp-small-300x295

Filling – 6 Wacky Apples (about 4 cups)

– 1 TBLS Lemon
– 1 tsp flour
– 1/2 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Crisp topping

– 1 Stick of Butter
– 1 cup rolled oats
– 1/2 cup flour
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 1/2 tsp vanilla
– 1 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp nutmeg

Combine Filling ingredients, mix until well combine and put in the bottom of a pie dish. Combine all Topping ingredients together, mix well until well blended and clumps form. Top the apples with the topping and pat down to form crust. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes! Enjoy! Serve warm over vanilla ice cream or yogurt. Note: This is a wonderful recipe and activity to do with kids! Let the kids get their hands in the bowls to do the mixing. Don’t be afraid to adjust the recipe to your liking. Feel free to add nuts, coconut, or dried fruit to the crumb topping. If you want less sugar, feel free to reduce it. I have also made it with only 1/2 stick of butter instead of 1 full stick. It worked just fine, it just wasn’t as shiny or crumbly, but it was tasty!
